Politicians

The pettiness of our politicians vying for attention a week before a national election is deplorable! They are squabbling like children who have never learned how to focus on the important issues confronting them. They show no embarrassment whatsoever as they use the flimsiest excuses to ridicule each other. Trivial information becomes magnified to the point where it’s discussed as a matter of national security! The really important issues facing the country have become instruments of mean, devious and vengeful rhetoric in the struggle to keep or gain power. The current level of statesmanship is so degraded it’s nothing more than a deceitful display of hidden agendas to further one’s own ambitions. We need ‘men to match our mountains’; statesmen with vision who can follow in the footsteps of our founding fathers.

“Armyese”

Maj. Gen. William B Caldwell is talking “Armyese” when he states that the situation in Iraq is disheartening. In plain, simple English, he means we have lost the war in Iraq. The war game will continue though until someone with vision breaks thru the ‘rock and a hard place’ position the U. S. finds itself.

General Powell told the President he would own the war if he started it. He not only owns it, but should be impeached because of it! There isn’t going to be an easy way out of this mess but moving troops out of Iraq and bringing them back home would be a start.

Trouble Plus

As if this country doesn’t have enough to worry about with the war in Iraq and Afghanistan going from bad to worse, the wild fires in California are raging out of control as fire fighters, working in temperatures of 118 degrees, attempt to keep three fires from joining and sweeping into the Big Bear basin.

The biggest worry is the intensity of the fighting since Israel started bombing the Gaza strip and Lebanon. If there has been reluctance to call the increased attacks by the insurgents in Iraq a civil war, there won’t be much doubt about what we can call it if the present fighting isn’t restrained. We can call it WORLD WAR THREE.

It’s really strange how humans create emotional beliefs so intense they will kill to keep them and force them on others!
